PT Membership Experience Specialist

Position Summary

The PART-TIME MEMBER EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST manages and supports individual members and volunteers within an assigned region to help facilitate the Girl Scout experience and to meet the Council’s strategic objectives and membership goals. At all times, she/he must portray a positive image that is representative of council policies and procedures and promote customer service to internal/external stakeholders.

 The Part-time MES position is a 19-hour per week role. The position involves remote work and local travel, with some evening and weekend work hours to meet organizational membership goals and objectives. The role requires collaborating with council staff across departments and local volunteers to effectively deliver the Girl Scout program experience to youth members, with significant community-organizing and support accountabilities.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  •  Complete GSOFCT Staff Training modules and clearly understand the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Supervises and supports service unit leaders in order to ensure high-quality Girl Scouts programming is available to girls and adults in order to reach the council’s strategic objectives and membership goals.
  • Recruits new members (youth/adults) through various recruiting methods (in-person/virtual) within their assigned area of responsibilities. 
  • Supports and participates in regular leader and service team meetings as needed in order to develop high-functioning service unit volunteers.
  • Creates, manages, and close cases within GSOFCT established guidelines.
  • Successfully follows department and council Standard Operating Procedure to manage workflow and productivity.
  • Recruits, appoints, trains, and manages all service team volunteers within their assigned area.
  • Actively promotes GSOFCT and GSUSA activities for troops, girls and families to our members.
  • Assumes duties of key service unit team members when positions are vacant.
  • Provides exemplary customer service when answering phones, returning calls and responding to emails.
  • Works cooperatively and closely with all GSOFCT departments on an ongoing basis.
  • Interprets and implements GSUSA and council policies, procedures and standards. Identifies and provides conflict support between members as needed in collaboration with the department leadership staff.
  • Increases visibility and raises awareness of Girl Scouting in communities.
  • Assists and supports in the execution of the product sales programs.
  • Embrace and enhance a culture that values diversity and ensures that staff, youth, and volunteer efforts reflect the council’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to carry out successful implementation of council goals.

 EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human services, education or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work with and manage a diverse group of volunteers and youth members.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Team building skills and experience.
  • Conflict resolution skills and experience.

 Skills and Competencies

  • Reliable transportation along with documentation of a valid drivers’ license, required automobile insurance and safe driving record.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Willingness and ability to travel within council jurisdiction.
  • Attendance at required team meetings in the main office (North Haven or Hartford) 1-2x per         month.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the       organization.
  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of           GSUSA.
  • Represent GSOFCT in professional Girl Scout attire.
  • Maintain a valid Connecticut driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation with proof of liability coverage of personal vehicle.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of staff, volunteers and girls.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position follows a primarily remote work schedule, with approximately 10% of                       time spent at the main office and 90% travel within the assigned region.
  • The role involves work in both office settings and community environments, including                   indoor and outdoor locations as required by program activities and events.
  • This is a permanent part-time position with a structured weekly schedule of a maximum of 19       hours.
