Preseason Director of First Aid

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of First Aid in the preseason works virtually with the Camp Directors to ensure the overall general health and safety of campers and staff during the camp season by reviewing all health forms as they are received, checking for accuracy and completion. The preseason Director of First Aid is responsible for getting all health forms to the appropriate camp before the start of the camp season.  They are responsible for maintaining accurate and timely records according to state and local health department regulations, ACA Standards, Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoints and GSOFT Policies.

This role is part time (up to 8 hours per week) from the date of hire through May 31st, 2025.  Beginning June 1st, 2025 through the Saturday after the last day of Camp programming, this position is Full Time out of one Summer Camp location.

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Reviews all health forms prior to opening day of camp to ensure compliance. Contacts families before camp session to inform them of the status of their camper’s paperwork. Informs Manager of Summer Camps or the Director of Outdoor Program on the status of missing health forms for campers and staff.
  • Reports major concerns regarding campers to Manager of Summer Camps or the Director of Outdoor Program.
  • Ensures camp administration and staff are aware of any health and/or behavioral issues that may impact camp programs.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all health information of campers and staff.
  • Follows Camp Staff Personnel Policies.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • 2 years plus experience in the health care industry preferred High School graduate or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare preferred
  • Show the willingness to abide by the policies and practices of Girl Scouts of Connecticut.
  • RN, LPN, Paramedic, or EMT preferred licensed in CT
  • Should hold a current First Aid Certificate, CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED, Medication Administration Certification with epi-pen and inhaler training.

  • If at a Day Camp location, must attend both optional Camper overnights on Week 2 and 4, as applicable
